Student Hourly – definition and general information

Key information from the Student Hourly Employees Policy:

  • Individuals must be at least 16 years of age and meet all other eligibility requirements defined in the student hourly policy linked below. Individuals under age 16 are not eligible for hire per University policy.
  • Student Hourlies must be enrolled for academic credit at an educational institution. An educational institution is defined as:
    • an accredited institution of higher learning granting associate degrees or higher;
    • a technical college;
    • a vocational or trade school; or
    • a high school.
  • If the student employee is a non-UW student, they must be entered into a campus Special Authorization (Spec Auth) file in order to access NetID and get a WisCard. The department requesting access needs to send an email to netid@ohr.wisc.edu with the following information:
    • Full Name
    • Gender
    • Date of Birth
    • Empl ID
    • Department UDDS
    • Employee email address (this does not need to be a wisc.edu address)
    • Termination date (if known)
