Linguistic bias consist on making assumptions about speakers of other languages or dialects, or towards bilingual speakers and often results in inaccurate assessment of students’ linguistic backgrounds and academic abilities. This article offers ways to address linguistic bias in the classroom by helping instructors recognize and compact prejudices about how students speak and write.
